"Creston author, Maureen Young’s first youth novel, Sunny and the Border Patrol, is published and was launched at a book signing in Creston on July 22. Set against the backdrop of Calgary, the action packed tale features the adventures of Harrow and Arty, two young urban hares patrolling their warren. Sunny, a bigger older hare is always bullying them. As the story unfolds we see the transformation of the guilt ridden Sunny as she is forced to protect Harrow and Arty on a secret mission.
The hares’ perspective on human beings is insightful and humbling. From the animals' view we can see ourselves in a different light. The young hares grow in strength and character as they seek the help of owls, badgers and trees to solve their human problem.
The youth novel and accompanying colouring book are delightfully illustrated by Calgary artist, Rebecca Popowich."
